STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team jumped two spots in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on Thursday to land at No. 14. This is the third set of team rankings released by the ITA since the start of the spring season.
This is the 94th consecutive week that Oklahoma State has found itself in the top 25 of the ITA rankings. The last time OSU missed the cut was March 18, 2014. The Cowgirls previously fell to No. 16 after coming in at No. 10 in the first set of rankings for the Spring
The No. 14 Cowgirls have started the 2020 season with an outstanding 7-1 record. OSU has logged wins over Abilene Christian, Wichita State, Central Arkansas, Oral Roberts, San Diego, Arkansas and Tulsa. The Cowgirls started the year with five consecutive wins before their first loss to Ohio State, who is ranked No. 10 in the country.
With a .875 winning percentage, the Cowgirls are tied for the second-highest in the top-25 along with UCLA and Florida State. The only team with a better winning percentage is No. 1 North Carolina, who has started the season out with a perfect 10-0 record. The Cowgirls are currently on a two-match win streak with 6-1 wins over both Tulsa and Arkansas. Oklahoma State will now look to pick up its first win over a top-25 team as No. 11 Pepperdine travels to Stillwater.
