Oklahoma State Game Notes
• The Basics
Just days after picking up its first Big 12 victory, Oklahoma State had the nation's best team on the ropes in a heartbreaking loss at No. 1 Baylor. Now the Cowboys will hope to bottle that confidence and head back out on the road to face Kansas State in Bramlage Coliseum. Isaac Likekele was a force for the Cowboys with double-doubles in both contests last week. This will be the first meeting between Likekele and K-State head coach Bruce Weber since the two teamed up to win gold with USA Basketball at the U19 FIBA World Cup in Greece.
• On the Air
The Cowboys and Bears will square off on ESPNU with Rich Hollenberg and King McClure on the call. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and the webcast can be seen on the WatchESPN app or ESPN.com. As always, Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb will have the Cowboy Radio Network call.
• Cowboy Quick Hitters
Isaac Likekele became the first Cowboy to ever follow up a points/assists double-double with a points/rebounds double-double. The sophomore posted 15 points and a career-high 11 assists in OSU's win over TCU, followed by 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds in taking No. 1 Baylor down to the wire in Waco. For the week, Likekele averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. When Likekele is playing his best he impacts the game as a scorer, rebounder, assist-man and defender. He is just the eighth OSU player to reach 200 career assists as a sophomore. Much like the team as a whole, Likekele's numbers over the last seven outings more closely resemble those from the early-season success.
• The Series With The Wildcats
This will be the 137th meeting between the Cowboys and the Wildcats in a series that dates back to 1922. K-State has won the last four games and eight of the last 10 to take a commanding 83-53 lead in the series. The Wildcats have a 41-16 edge in the Little Apple, including wins in seven of the last eight in Bramlage Coliseum. OSU's last win actually came in Manhattan, 80-68, on Feb. 22, 2017. Oklahoma State has a 33-27 edge in Stillwater, although K-State has won the last three meetings in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
• USA Basketball Connections
Cowboy Isaac Likekele and Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber teamed up to represent their country and win the U19 FIBA World Cup in Greece last summer. Likekele became the fourth Cowboy to win gold with at the U19 FIBA World Cup with USA Basketball after averaging 8.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.1 assist and 1.7 steals per game.
