Cunningham Win First Career Big 12 Newcomer of the Week Award

STILLWATER โ Oklahoma State star freshman Cade Cunningham led the Cowboys to a fast start that includes a road win at Marquette, which earned him his first Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honor.
The Arlington, Texas native posted 15 points and six boards in the Marquette win, and followed it up with 18 points and eight assists in the victory over Oakland on Saturday in GIA. For the week, Cunningham averaged 16.5 points on 47.8 percent shooting, 5.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Of all players that have played in multiple games, Cunningham is one of just fiveย nationally - and the country's only freshman - averaging at least 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. He leads the Cowboys in scoring (18.0), assists (4.5), steals (1.8) and 3-point percentage (.462), and is second on the squad in rebounding (6.0) blocks (1.0) and field goal percentage (.490), and is the Big 12's only player with those all-around numbers.
The AP Preseason All-American is the fifth player to win a Big 12 weekly award under head coach Mike Boynton, and this marks the 78th time a Cowboy has been named Big 12 Player or Newcomer of the Week in league history.
Cunningham and the Cowboys will welcome in-state foe Oral Roberts to GIA on Tuesday night. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
