Cowgirls Add Four During Fall Signing Period

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has signed four standouts to National Letters of Intent it was announced today by head coach Jim Littell.
The quartet of Tracey Bershers, Tori Garza, Macie James and Chloe Mayer all inked with the Cowgirls and will join the program for the 2021-22 campaign.
Bershers, a 6-2 forward from Fort Smith, Ark., has been a starter for Northside High School since her freshman season. As a junior, she averaged 15.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. Tabbed as an AHSAA all-state selection, she helped the Lady Bears to a state Class 6A runner-up finish. As a sophomore, Bershers averaged 8.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.0 blocks per game while helping Northside to a state title.
During her prep career, Bershers has averaged 11 points and 6.6 rebounds while tallying 953 total points.
"Tracey is a stretch 4 who can challenge the defense to guard her on the perimeter. A key piece of her skill set is the ability to shoot with great range," Littell said. "She comes from a proven winner, has been well coached and knows what it takes to be successful. She can take the ball off the rim and progress up the floor. She has good hands and feet as well."
Garza, a 6-1 forward from New Caney, Texas, was selected as the District 20-5A Offensive Player of the Year last year. She was named a first-team All-Montgomery County selection as well after averaging 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists per game for New Caney High School. Garza helped the Lady Eagles set the single-season program record with 27 wins and reach the area round for the first time since 2005.
The 2018 District 21-5A Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, Garza was ranked as a three-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz and carries a No. 43 position ranking as well.
"Tori has good size and can keep the defense honest with her shooting range. She can score at all three levels with her ability to shoot the 3, be productive from the mid-range area and she can finish in transition," Littell said. "She has played against high level competition as well."
A product of San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, Calif., James was named the County/Metro Athletic Conference MVP as a junior as well as a first-team all-state selection in Division II by Cal-Hi Sports. The 5-11 forward averaged 16.8 points, 3.5 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 1.0 blocks per game. As a sophomore, James averaged 11.7 points, 2.4 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.
James is currently ranked No. 88 and a four-star recruit according to ESPN HoopGurlz and checks in at No. 36 at per position.
"Macie is a tremendous athlete who is very success driven. She spends a lot of time in the gym working on her game," Littell said. "She has the ability to get to the rim, score in the intermediate range and is improving from the 3-point line. She will have the opportunity to develop into a proven scorer in our league."
A 5-5 guard from Chico, California, Mayer enjoyed a productive season a year ago at Butte College where she was named the Golden Valley Conference's MVP after averaging 18.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Additionally, she guided Butte to a 23-7 mark and a share of its first conference title since 2010-11.
While competing at Pleasant Valley High School, Mayer averaged 12.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists as a senior after averaging 13.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per outing as a junior.
"Chloe plays with a lot of energy and passion. She can shoot the 3 and penetrate to create opportunities for herself and her teammates," Littell said. "She has a good work ethic and is a strong leader who will push herself and others to get better."
