Natasha Mack Named To McClain Award Watch List

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Oklahoma State's Natasha Mack has been named one of 20 watch list candidates for the 2021 Katrina McClain Award it was announced today by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Named after the two-time All-American and the 1987 National Player of the Year, the annual award is in its fourth year and recognizes the top power forward in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.
A senior from Lufkin, Texas, Mack is coming off a breakout performance a year ago that saw her garner second-team all-league honors on her way to being named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. The 6-4 forward was also named to the league's all-defensive team.
Mack also appeared on the Naismith Trophy Defensive Player of the Year Midseason Team and was named to the all-tournament team at the Paradise Jam.
During her first season in Stillwater, Mack was the Big 12's fifth-leading scorer at 17.6 points per outing and pulled a league-best 12.5 rebounds per contest. Additionally, she ranked third among league players in field-goal percentage at 51.6 percent, was second with her 3.6 blocked shots per game and was seventh with her 1.9 steals per contest.
Nationally, Mack ranked third in both rebounds per game and blocked shots per outing. Her 19 double-doubles ranked seventh in the country.
College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in fan voting in each of the three rounds. In early February, the watch list of 20 players will be narrowed to 10. In early March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. McClain-Pittman and the Hall of Fame's selection committee.
The winner of the 2021 Katrina McClain Power Forward Award will be presented on April 9 along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award, the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard Award, the Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award and the Lisa Leslie Center Award, in addition to the Men's Starting Five.
