January 07, 2020 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team was picked fourth in the 2019 Big 12 preseason coaches poll released by the conference on Tuesday.
The Cowboys received 13 points to land in the fourth spot of the poll behind Baylor with 23 points for first, Texas with 22 points for second and TCU with 18 points for third. Oklahoma (8) and Texas Tech (6) round out the rankings at fifth and sixth respectively.
This is the second consecutive year in which the Cowboys were selected fourth in the Big 12 preseason coaches poll. OSU finished the 2018-19 season with a 16-12 record but went just 1-4 in conference play.
Head coach Jay Udwadia will look to lead multiple nationally-ranked Cowboys to a successful 2019-20 campaign. Most notably, the new duo of Dominik Kellovsky and returning Cowboy Matej Vocel are ranked No. 1 in the country. Luke Hammond and Emile Hudd are currently the No. 19 doubles team in the country. OSU also claims three players in the ITA singles rankings with Vocel at No. 41, Hudd at No. 87 and Kellovsky at No. 91.
The Cowboys will open the 2020 spring season with a match against San Diego State in San Diego, Calif. on Jan. 12 at 10:30 a.m.
