Rioux Advances To Round Two Of The Qualifying Draw In Lawrence

Lawrence, Kan. – Oklahoma State's Lisa Marie Rioux is moving on to round two of the qualifying draw at the Lawrence $15K Pro Circuit after defeating 16-year-old Kailey Evans in round one on Monday.
The Cowgirl took the first set over Evans rather handily after dropping just one game. There was a bit of back and forth in the second set between the two women competing in the qualifying draw, but Rioux won the match in straight sets: 6-1, 6-4.
"It's exciting for us to begin the fall season and have four girls competing in a pro event," Coach Chris Young says. "I'm happy for Lisa to get the first win today, and I'm looking forward to a great week for everyone."
Rioux is joined by fellow Cowgirls Dariya Dekovskaya (FR.), Bunyawi Thamchaiwat (SO.) and Ayumi Miyamoto (FR.) in the Lawrence $15K Pro Circuit. Dekovskaya, Thamchaiwat & Miyamoto will play in the main draw beginning on Tuesday.
Rioux will play in round two of the qualifying draw on Tuesday. She will face the winner of Muskan Mahajan and Micheline Abuchon. Rioux will need to win one more round in the qualifying draw in order to advance to the main draw of the tournament.
