Four Cowgirls Pick Up Wins In Lawrence On Tuesday

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Four current Oklahoma State Cowgirls are competing in the Lawrence $15K Pro Circuit along with current volunteer assistant coach Vladica Babic. Lisa Marie Rioux (JR.), Bunyawi Thamchaiwat (SO.), Ayumi Miyamoto (FR.) and Dariya Detkovskaya (FR.) are the four Cowgirls playing in the main draw of the tournament.
Rioux won her second match of the qualifying draw over Muskan Mahajan on Tuesday: 6-1, 6-3. The junior defeated Kailey Evans in round one of the qualifying draw on Monday, and the Tuesday win over Mahajan moved her into the main draw.
The second Cowgirl to play in the tournament, Bunyawi Thamchaiwat, defeated Sofia Smagina in a 6-2, 6-2 victory. Thamchaiwat would go on to compete in doubles play later Tuesday as well.
Thamchaiwat competed in doubles play with freshman Ayumi Miyamoto. That duo defeated the three-seeded pairing of Michaela Bayerlova and Aneta Laboutkova in a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Finishing off Tuesday for the Cowgirls was volunteer assistant coach Vladica Babic. Babic, the fourth seed in the tournament, defeated Mayuka Aikawa in a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Rioux will face Dalayna Hewitt in the main draw for a chance to play Babic in the next round. Thamchaiwat will face the winner of Nika Kukharchuk and Anastasia Nefedova, which will be determined on Wednesday.
Dariya Detkovskaya will play her first match on Wednesday against Elizabeth Scotty. Finally, Detkovskaya will team up with Lisa Marie Rioux in doubles play against Tiphanie Fiquet and Amber Washington.
