Masson, Hedwall Earn European Solheim Cup Roster Invites

STILLWATER โ Former Oklahoma State women's golfers Caroline Hedwall and Caroline Masson were named to the European Solheim Cup team on Monday.
This will be the fourth Solheim Cup appearance for both Hedwall and Masson, who will look to help the Europeans take the trophy back Sept. 12-15 at Gleneagles, Scotland.
The Solheim Cup is the premier event in women's golf with the best players from the United States and Europe going head-to-head every two years in match-play format. Named after PING founder Karsten Solheim, this is the 16th edition of edition of the competition, and the Americans lead the series 10-5 with wins in each of the last two.
Hedwall, of Sweden, won the NCAA individual championship as a Cowgirl in 2010, and was a two-time Big 12 Player of the Year. She enters the event ranked No. 116 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.
Hedwall is 8-4-1 all-time at the Solheim Cup and clinched the 2013 event for Europe after becoming the first player in the competition's history to win five individual matches.
Masson has participated in each of the last three Solheim Cups and is ranked No. 52 in the world. She has a career Solhiem Cup record of 3-6-2 and was a part of the European victory in 2013. As a Cowgirl, Masson helped OSU win the 2009 Big 12 championship and finish fourth at the NCAA Championships.
