ORLANDO, Fla. – Members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team wrapped up their seasons at the individual NCAA Championship on Wednesday afternoon.
The doubles tandem of Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur lost their first set in a close bout to NC State's Anna Smith and Alana Rogers. The second was less favorable and the No. 31 Cowgirls dropped the bout, 4-6, 0-6.
The pair finished the season with a 15-5 record, earning first-team Big 12 accolades for doubles play. The award marked the second-consecutive season in which Blanco accomplished the feat. The Cordoba, Argentina native ends her doubles career with a 75-25 overall record, a 2018 All-America nod and countless academic accolades to her name.
In singles action, Katarina Stresnakova came up short in a rematch with UCLA's Jada Hart. The 25th-ranked Cowgirl fell in straight sets, 5-7, 4-6. The senior finished her career at OSU with a 78-33 record, earning All-America honors for the first time with her performance this week.
"It was a great season and a very good tournament for these three individuals," OSU head coach Chris Young said. "Katie did a great job becoming an All-American, and Sofi and Catherine were right there. I'm proud of our seniors. Although today wasn't their best day, they have meant so much to our program, and I'm excited for Catherine and our other returning players to continue the program's standards."
The Cowgirls came in at No. 12 in this week's Oracle/ITA rankings, marking the fifth-straight season in which they've ended the year among the top 10 programs in NCAA Division I tennis. In this week's USTA poll, OSU lands at No. 10.
