Inaugural Cowboy Choice Awards Celebrates OSU Excellence

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State student-athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters came together in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Monday night to celebrate an amazing year at the inaugural Cowboy Choice Awards.
Hosted by ESPN personality Maria Taylor, the Cowboy Choice Awards began with an orange-carpet entrance and culminated with an awards ceremony that celebrated the top performers and performances at OSU over the last year.
The NCAA champion Cowboy golf team, led by Viktor Hovland and Matthew Wolff, combined to take home five Cowboy Choice Awards, while Cowgirl softball star Vanessa Shippy won Female Athlete of the Year and Female Performance of the Year.
Longtime Cowboy supporter T. Boone Pickens was winner of the Difference-Maker Award, which was subsequently named in his honor after his contributions to the advancement of OSU athletics.
All awards were presented based on performances during the 2017-18 winter and spring sports and 2018-19 fall sports seasons. Below is the full list of awards and nominees. The bolded names reflect the Cowboy Choice Award winner in each category.
Male Athlete of the Year

Loryn Goodwin, Basketball: 35 points and 10 rebounds at No. 6 Mississippi State.
Vanessa Shippy, Softball: Went 11-for-13 with six RBI and nine runs scored to start the season.
Distance Medley Relay Team, Women's Track and Field: Sixth place finish at NCAAs.
Jaden Hobbs, Basketball: Made 8-of-9 three-pointers in an NCAA win over Syracuse.
Men's Team of the Year
