April 18, 2019 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton further fortified one of the nation's top recruiting classes with the signing of four-star guard and top-100 recruit Chris Harris Jr.
Rivals.com awarded Harris a four-star ranking and named him the nation's No. 97 overall recruit. ESPN also gave Harris a four-star grade and named him among the top 25 shooting guards in the country, while 247Sports graded him as the No. 13 player in the state of Texas.
The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region selection and District 10-6A Offensive Player of the Year, Harris averaged 18.6 points per game on 45.6 percent shooting (37 percent from 3-point), 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game in helping South Garland High School post a 30-7 record and a trip to the regional finals.
Harris had 15 20-point performances in 2018-19, including a 35-point game against Little Elm.
As a junior, Harris averaged 19.1 points per game and helped lead the Colonels to the Texas 6A state tournament. Last summer, he attended the NBPA Top 100 Camp, as well as the Pangos All-American Camp, both reserved for elite prospects. In AAU competition, Harris played with Houston Hoops on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Harris chose Oklahoma State over offers from the Aggies, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Baylor, Arkansas, Georgia Tech and others.
He joins a Cowboy recruiting class that includes Marcus Watson, Avery Anderson III, Keylan Boone and Kalib Boone, which was ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 23 recruiting class prior to Harris' signing.
