Cowgirl Soccer Signs Record-Setting Goal Scorer
April 13, 2019 | Cowgirl Soccer
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has inked high school star Rebekah George to a national letter of intent, and the Choctaw High School star will join the Cowgirls' 2019 signing class, announced OSU head coach Colin Carmichael.
Earlier this week, George set the Oklahoma Class 6A girls single-season scoring record with her 39th goal of the season, and the senior midfielder has led the Yellowjackets to a 10-2-0 record thus far in 2019.
"We are very excited to add Rebekah to our team this fall," Carmichael said. "She is an extremely gifted soccer player, and her ball retention and ability to pick out passes will fit with how our team likes to play. Rebekah also has an eye for goal. She has scored a ton of goals at the high school and club levels so she should give us another scoring threat."
Entering her final prep season, George was a multiple time all-conference performer for CHS who had tallied 50 goals in 25 matches, including 30 as a junior. Also a standout for Oklahoma Energy FC, she has helped lead the club to five state championships, three regional finals appearances and a national championship berth.
George is listed as a three-star recruit by TopDrawerSoccer.com and is also ranked as the No. 7 recruit in the South Region.
George joins an OSU incoming class that includes midfielder Olyvia Dowell and forward Peyton Vincze, with that trio expected to provide scoring punch to a Cowgirl squad that loses its top two goal scorers from last season in Haley Woodard and Marlo Zoller.
