Cowgirls Pick Up Road Win Against TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma State's women's tennis team defeated TCU, 6-1, on Friday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center to earn its seventh Big 12 victory of the season.
The 11th-ranked Cowgirls improved to 17-6 overall and 7-1 in league play with the victory.
"It is a good win for the girls," OSU head coach Chris Young said. "I think that we are starting to compete well each and every match. I thought that the energy was good and it was carried over to singles. TCU competed really well and challenged us in a lot of spots, but I was really proud of the girls for their energy, effort and just the way they competed."
OSU started the match strong, securing the doubles point. No. 24 Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur fell to No. 40 Ellie Douglas and Aleksa Cveticanin. Katarina Stresnakova and Marina Guinart picked it back up for the Cowgirls, dropping Chloe Hule and Stevie Kennedy, 6-2.
On Court 3, Lisa Marie Rioux and Tamara Arnold came down to the wire in a tiebreaker victory against Mercedes Aristegui and Kate Paulus, to secure the doubles point.
Arnold clinched the match for OSU, rallying past Kennedy, 6-4, 6-0. Rioux was next to score for the Cowgirls, notching a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Cveticanin. The Frogs got their only point of the match on Court 5, as Blanco fell to Hule, 6(0)-7(7), 4-6.
No. 23 Stresnakova won her first set against No. 60 Douglas, 6-4. Douglas easily took the second, 1-6. In the third set, Stresnakova was trailing 2-5. She went on to win five straight games, to emerge victorious.
