Rare In-State Opportunity for Cowgirl Golf To Compete For Big 12 Crown
April 12, 2019 | Cowgirl Golf
BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma – This season, the Oklahoma State women's golf team has teed it up in eight different states and five time zones, but the Cowgirls will now take the short 100-mile trek to the Golf Club of Oklahoma to play in front of friends, family and hometown fans starting Sunday.
The three-day event is free to the public, and the Cowgirls will be at the first tee at Noon on Sunday. This will mark the third time the Big 12 Championship has been played in the state of Oklahoma, and the first since Norman's Jimmie Austin Golf Club hosted the event in 2010. Karsten Creek hosted the league championship in 2008.
Oklahoma State is the most successful team in the Big 12 era, with nine team titles and nine individual championships. The rest of the conference has nine Big 12 team championships and seven individual titles combined.
This will be the first Big 12 Championship appearance for all five Cowgirl starters; Han-Hsuan Yu, Lianna Bailey, Sara Camarena, Emma Whitaker and Michelle Forsland.
Last year, the Cowgirls tied for second the 2018 Big 12 Championship at the Dallas Athletic Club. OSU posted rounds of 292-297-299 (+13) 888 to tie with Baylor for second on the leaderboard. Texas was eight strokes better and took home the title.
