Cowgirl Golf Wraps Up Play In Phoenix In 14th Place

PHOENIX, Ariz. – In a daunting field that featured 10 squads ranked among the nation's top 35, the Oklahoma State women's golf team carded rounds of 300-304-300 (+40) 904 to finish 14th at the PING/ASU Invitational.
Top ranked Southern California shot the best round of the event, a 9-under 279, to make up nine strokes and win the PING/ASU Invitational for the third time in school history. UCLA's Bethany Woo, Northwestern's Stephanie Lau and Stanford's Andrea Lee shared medalist honors at 7-under 209.
Han-Hsuan Yu had the best round of the day for the Cowgirls thanks to an eagle on the par-5 15th hole at the Papago Golf Course. The freshman finished the day 1-under to jump 14 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 62nd at 13-over 229.
Lianna Bailey and Michelle Forsland both finished in a tie for 52nd at 10-over 226, while Emma Whitaker ended the event in a tie for 58th at 11-over 227.
Senior Chih-Min Chen carded a final-round 75 to finish in a tie for 62nd at 13-over 229, while freshman Sara Camarena tied for 80th at 21-over 237.
The Cowgirls will now have two weeks to prepare for the Big 12 Championships, which are being held at the Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow. The Cowgirls have nine Big 12 titles, and will begin the quest for their 10th championship on April 14.
