Vocel Lands Big 12 Player of the Week Honor

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State sophomore Matej Vocel tallied five wins across singles and doubles this past weekend, which earned him Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors.
Vocel defeated No. 25 Alexis Galarneau of NC State, which clinched the match for the Pokes against the No. 35 Wolfpack.
The Prague, Czech Republic native went on to defeat No. 123 Chris Patzanovsky of Memphis, 6-2, 6-2, and went 3-0 in doubles play over the weekend.
Vocel holds a 5-4 singles record from the No. 1 position and has also earned an impressive 7-2 doubles record in the dual season.
The ITA tabbed Vocel the No. 2 Freshman/Newcomer in the preseason.
The Cowboys, who recently moved up to No. 23 in the latest Oracle/ITA team rankings, hold a five-match winning streak heading into their match at Tulsa on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
