Dziagwa Named Academic All-Big 12 First Team Selection
February 28, 2019 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER โ Oklahoma State guard Thomas Dziagwa was one of 20 student-athletes named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Men's Basketball First Team.
This is the first career academic honor for Dziagwa, who is pursuing a degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in sociology and religion. He is the 24th Cowboy to earn first-team honors in the Big 12 era.
On the court, Dziagwa is one of the most potent 3-point threats in the Big 12. The junior leads the league with 3.3 3-pointers per game, and is fourth in the conference with a 45.1 3-point percentage.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Dziagwa and the Cowboys will host Kansas on Saturday morning in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tipoff is slated for 11 a.m. on CBS, and tickets are available at okstate.com/tickets or by calling or texting 877-ALL-4-OSU.
