Cowgirls Lead League With Seven Academic All-Big 12 Picks

IRVING, Texas — Oklahoma State had a league-best seven players named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Basketball Team It was announced today by the league office.
Seniors Karli Wheeler and Maria Castro were joined on the first team by redshirt freshman Ja'Mee Asberry and sophomore Abbie Winchester. Wheeler was one of eight players to earn the distinction for at least the third time. She has been named to the squad's first team on three occasions.
Junior Clitan de Sousa was joined on the second team by redshirt sophomore Jaden Hobbs and true sophomore Braxtin Miller. Hobbs was named to the squad for the second year in a row.
OSU's seven selections are the most ever for the program. The Cowgirls have had six academic all-league picks the previous three seasons.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00-3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the previous two semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
