Cowgirls Roll To Victory Against Kansas, 72-52

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team defeated Kansas 72-52 on Saturday in front of 2,155 fans in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls snapped a four-game losing streak and moved OSU to 14-12 overall and 5-10 in conference play while the Jayhawks fell to 12-14 overall and 2-13 in conference play.
With a 14-0 run in the opening period, the Cowgirls had a commanding 23-8 lead after the first quarter. Vivian Gray and Kassidy De Lapp both had a hot start, combining for 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. The Cowgirls shot 60 percent from the field and limited the Jayhawks to 12.5 percent from the field with stifling defense.
In the second, Braxton Miller knocked down two 3-pointers in the period and helped OSU increase its lead to 38-17 heading into halftime. Miller finished the game with 16 points, nine rebounds and a trio of 3-pointers. The Cowgirls defense forced nine turnovers and held Kansas to five field goals in the first half.
OSU's lead was trimmed to 16 after a 5-0 run by the Jayhawks to start the second half but the Cowgirls quickly responded with a 6-0 run of their own. Miller made a lay-up in the closing seconds of the third period to extend the lead back to 21 at 52-31 heading into the final quarter.
With an 8-0 run to start the final period, The Cowgirls had their biggest lead of the game at 60-31. Gray had the hot hand again in the fourth period, notching nine points on 3-of-4 shooting. The sophomore forward totaled 26 points and eight rebounds in the game on 47.6 percent shooting with two 3-pointers.
The Cowgirls knocked down nine 3-pointers on 47.4 percent this game, the second-best shooting performance from long distance this year.
OSU will be back in action Feb. 25 when it travels to Norman and play Oklahoma.
