Cowgirl Tennis Signs Fourth-Ranked Class of 2019
February 15, 2019 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER– This month Tennis Recruiting Network released the TRN/Mizuno Top 25 Women's Recruiting Classes and listed Oklahoma State as the No. 4 incoming class among NCAA Division I programs.
Young and the Cowgirls signed Ayumi Miyamoto and Alana Wolfberg in the fall to round out the class.
"I'm excited about these two girls and the way our recruiting class came together," coach Chris Young said. "Obviously, Ayumi and Alana are two of the best incoming recruits on the court, but they will also impact our culture off the court as well just by the people they are and the character they both possess."
Blue-chip Alana Wolfberg comes to OSU from Timber Creek High School in Florida. She is the 12th-ranked recruit in her class and the No. 4 player in the state. The future Cowgirl earned second in doubles and third in singles at the USTA Girls' 2018 Clay Court Championships. Wolfberg has a Universal Tennis Ranking of 11.48.
"Alana was recruited by virtually every school in the country, and we are thrilled she wanted to be a Cowgirl," Young said. "She has unlimited potential and a strong desire to be great and help us continue to compete for Championships."
Miyamoto comes to the Cowgirl squad from Japan with a UTR of 11.72, a WTA ranking of 650 in 809 in doubles. Her ITF Junior career-high ranking is No. 17.
"Ayumi committed to us almost a year ago, so we have been so eager about her arrival. She is a great competitor who has big goals, and I believe she will make an immediate impact upon her arrival."
The TRN panelists who formulate these rankings are reporters, tournament directors from around the globe, officials, ranking chairmen and writers from across the country.
