Oklahoma State Game Notes
• The Basics
Oklahoma State (9-14, 2-8 Big 12) battled hard at Kansas on Saturday, but couldn't withstand the Jayhawk second-half run that handed the Cowboys their sixth straight Big 12 loss. The three Cowboy captains - Cameron McGriff (22 points), Lindy Waters (13 points) and Thomas Dziagwa (11 points) - all reached double-figures, while freshman Isaac Likekele added 14 points and Yor Anei swatted three shots to bring his season total to 47. Texas Tech (19-5, 7-4 Big 12) nearly picked up a wire-to-wire victory in taking down Oklahoma, 66-54, in Norman. The Red Raiders feature arguably the nation's toughest defense, which is holding opponents to 36.2 percent shooting - tops in the country.
• On the Air
The matchup will air on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. Central. Mark Neely and former Cowboy guard Bryndon Manzer will handle the on-air duties. The webcast is available at ESPN3 or via the WatchESPN app. Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb will have the Cowboy Radio Network call, which can also be heard on TuneIn Radio or on satellite radio Sirius 78 and XM 199.
• Cowboy Quick Hitters
• The Cowboys have won three of the last four games against the Red Raiders, and 14 of the last 15 games in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
• Cowboys juniors Lindy Waters (1st, 46.3 percent) and Thomas Dziagwa (4th, 44.7 percent) are both ranked in the top four 3-point shooters in the Big 12. OSU is the only school with two players among the top five.
• Yor Anei has 47 blocks on the season, which already ranks 16th in OSU history for a single season. The freshman can move into the top 10 with just seven more blocks.
• OSU has fallen in six straight Big 12 games, which is the longest losing streak in conference play since falling in a school record 12 straight Big 12 games during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.
• 6-10 And Growing
Yor Anei is easily the most improved player in the Cowboy lineup. At 6-10 with a 7'0 1/2" wing span, Anei is a natural shot blocker, and ranks third in the Big 12 with 2.0 blocks per game. But the freshman, who had a career-high 20-point game at TCU last week, has made huge strides in the scoring and rebounding departments as well. Over the last seven games, Anei is averaging 10.3 points and 6.0 rebounds on 65.0 percent shooting. He's also shooting a respectable 76.9 percent from the line over that span. Anei already ranks 16th in school history with 47 blocks on the season, and his 2.0 blocks per game average is eighth best in program history. In fact, he's already 26th in school history in career blocks.
• The Series With Texas Tech
Oklahoma State has taken three of the last four games against Texas Tech, and leads the overall series, 44-20. The Cowboys own a 23-4 mark against the Red Raiders in Stillwater, including wins in 14 of the last 15 meetings with the only loss coming in 2016. The Cowboys and Red Raiders began their series in 1937 with a 38-19 win for Mr. Henry Iba's Aggies in Oklahoma City.
• Leading The Red Raiders
The Red Raiders are under the direction of third-year head coach Chris Beard, who has taken the Texas Tech program to new heights. Last season, Beard coached the Red Raiders to a 27-10 record and their first ever appearance in the Elite Eight. He was named 2018 Big 12 Co-Coach of the Year, the 2018 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 8 Coach of the Year, the 2018 United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) District VII Coach of the Year and the 2018 John McClendon National Coach of the Year award recipient. Prior to his time in Lubbock, Beard was the architect of Little Rock's magical 30-win season that included a first round NCAA Tournament double-overtime upset over Purdue, 85-83, in 2016. Originally from The Woodlands, and a 1995 graduate of the University of Texas, Beard spent time on the coaching staffs at Texas, Incarnate Word, Abilene Christian and North Texas before joining Bob Knight at Texas Tech in 2001.
• Suttons Well Represented
Former Oklahoma State player (1990-92), assistant coach (1993-06) and head coach (2006-08) Sean Sutton joined the Texas Tech staff as an advisor to head coach Chris Beard in 2017. In 15 seasons in all capacities in Stillwater the Cowboys racked up 11 seasons of 20 or more wins during Sutton's time, including a 39-29 mark as the OSU head coach. Sutton spent six seasons with his brother, Scott Sutton, at Oral Roberts. Scott joined Mike Boynton's coaching staff prior to the 2017-18 season.
• Scouting The Red Raiders

TTU leads the nation in field goal percentage defense at 36.2 percent and is holding teams to just 57.3 points per game, which ranks third nationally.
