Quotes: Oklahoma State vs SE Louisiana
December 29, 2019 | Cowboy Basketball
Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton
On out-rebounding Southeastern Louisiana:
"Yeah, I thought we played with more intention and purpose from a rebounding aspect, but the thing I was most proud about today was that we got back to defending with the type of intensity that was missing for a relatively four week period. Some of that had to do with Ice but some of it had to do with us being more sound in our schemes and playing more solid. Southeast is going to be fine in their league, but now it's time to turn our intensity to Big 12 play."
On Isaac Likekele making his return after missing four games:
"He's just a kid who is completely committed to this program, this team, his teammates and having success. While he was out, even though he couldn't come by at practice, he was still asking for practice film and game film so that when he could speak to them, he could speak from a pretty intellectually honest place and being able to give them sound advice. That type of commitment and care for his teammates makes him the type of leader he is."
Southeastern Louisiana head coach David Kiefer
Overall takeaways on the game:
"We're happy to be done playing high majors now and get into conference play. You're either the dog or the tree and we were the tree tonight and they were the dog. This was probably the worst performance we've had this year, but again, we have a bunch of 18 year olds and 19 year olds. We have 10 or 11 freshmen and sophomores. We're going to build from it, we're going to burn that tape, there is no reason to watch it. We have to get ready for Stephen F. Austin and have the best practice we've ever had tomorrow."
On SELA sophomore forward Ty Brewer:
"He's been unbelievable, he's been our best player all year in practice and in games. His energy and effort and enthusiasm every day. The basketball gods give back to him and allow him to make the bad shots he takes. He played his butt off tonight, he competed. He's going to be a really good player for us."
