STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team started the season the season 2-0 with a 74-53 victory against the Lamar University Cardinals. Today's game marked just the second meeting between the two teams, the last meeting taking place in 2015.

Junior Vivian Gray got off to a fast start scoring 10 of the Cowgirls' first 12 points, shooting 4-of-5 from the field. After a slow start, Lamar took advantage of 2-of-11 shooting from the Cowgirls at the end of the first quarter to make it a one-point game. OSU carried a narrow 19-18 lead into the first quarter break.

The Cowgirls opened the second quarter with a 9-1 run to build an 11-point lead against Lamar. The second quarter saw six different Cowgirls contribute to the scoring, including eight more points from Vivian Gray. The defense held Lamar to 28.1 percent shooting from the field in the first half. OSU capitalized on their early run and took a 40-30 lead into the half.

OSU held the Cardinals to just nine points in the third quarter, holding Lamar scoreless for the final 3:45 of the quarter. Junior Natasha Mack lead the Cowgirls with eight points coming out of the half, helping to build a commanding 21-point lead.

Defense was the difference maker for OSU in the second half, holding the Cardinals to 23 points in the final half of the game. OSU's largest lead came in the fourth quarter when they extended the lead to a 23-point margin.

From the opening tip, the Cowgirls never surrendered the lead. The defense held Lamer to a 27.8 percent shooting day from the field. Oklahoma State was dominant in the paint, scoring 38 of their 71 points from the inside.

Vivian Gray lead the way for the Cowgirls with 27 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Natasha Mack was the second Cowgirl to reach double-digits, with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Cowgirls are back in action on Wednesday, November 13th at Tulsa for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff.
