Second-Half Surge Lifts Cowgirls Past Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the year after using a strong second half at both ends of the floor to defeat Tulsa, 78-48, in front of 1,487 fans inside the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
The Cowgirls trailed Tulsa 39-31 at the break before opening the second half on an 11-0 run to take a 42-39 lead. OSU outscored the Golden Hurricane by a 26-6 count in the period to extend to a 57-45 lead heading into the fourth.
Sophomore Ja'Mee Asberry, who finished with 21 points and six assists in the game, knocked down a trey from the wing with seven minutes left to extend the margin to 67-45.
Overall, the Cowgirls outscored TU 47-9 in the second half to snap a three-game losing streak against their in-state rival. Defensively, the Cowgirls stifled the Golden Hurricane in the half, holding TU to a 3-of-30 effort from the floor over the final 20 minutes and 24 percent shooting in the game.
In addition to Asberry, junior Vivian Gray scored 24 points, including 18 in the second half, while Natasha Mack logged her second career double-double. The junior scored 13 points and pulled 20 rebounds in the contest.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Nov. 19 when they play host to Idaho State at 7 p.m.
