Cowgirls Close Out Fall Season With Win Over No. 4 South Carolina

STILLWATER – The No. 2 Oklahoma State equestrian team capped off the fall season with a 12-7 win over fourth-ranked South Carolina.
"It was a great meet," OSU head coach Larry Sanchez said. "The girls came together for the final meet of the fall semester. It's always great to go out with a win into this break. We are very excited about taking a little bit of a break, coming back in the spring and continuing where we left off."
The meet began with Horsemanship where the Cowgirls took the event 4-1. Captain Emma Verplank improved to 7-1 this season with a 73.5-72 win over Cora Wyers. Sydnee Gemar earned her fourth win of the season following a 73.5-72 performance against Taylor Kellam. Cassidy Watters continued her hot season with a 70-69 win over Caroline Gute. She remains undefeated at home. Harley Huff took home her third MOP of the season in a 74.5-71.5 victory against Gabrielle Brassard.
In Fences, freshman Sydney North scored her career high of 86 to defeat Grady Lyman. Hannah Janson picked up her third win in Fences of the season in a 77-65 performance over Madeline Schaefer. Sydnie Ziegler remains undefeated at home thanks to an 82-71 victory against Caroline Bald. Team Captain Abigail Brayman earned a season high 89 to secure the win against Jordan Allen, and received her second MOP in the event this season.
The second half of the meet began with Flat. The Gamecocks took the event 4-1. Katie Schell improved to 7-1 this season with her 77-65 win against Madeline Schaefer.
The Cowgirls took back the momentum in Reining, finishing the event 3-1. Stephanie Helsen took her first home win of the season topping Jordan Scott 71.5-71. Kristi Wiggins bested Sloane Vogt, 69.5-65.5. Senior Captain Hannah Mitchell took the third point in the event in a 73.5-70 victory against Addie Cromer, receiving MOP honors.
The Cowgirls will be back in action when they take on SMU in Dallas Feb. 8.
