(Pronunciation: mon-TRELLÂ pen-yuh)
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton further fortified OSU's 2020 recruiting class with the signing of 6-10 forward Montreal Pena to a National Letter of Intent.
Pena starred in the paint for the Texas Titans alongside fellow Cowboy signees Cade Cunningham and Rondel Walker. He is listed as a three-star recruit by both Rivals, which named him the No. 46 power forward in the country, and 247Sports, who ranked Pena the No. 15 overall player in Texas.
Pena's signing moves OSU's 2020 recruiting class into the nation's top 10 according to both 247Sports and Rivals. That makes this the best recruiting haul by the Cowboys since signing the No. 1 class in 2005.
During the 2019 Nike EYBL circuit, Pena averaged 8.8 points per game on 73.7 percent shooting. National 247Sports analyst Evan Daniels named Pena "Breakout Performer" after watching him play at the EYBL event in May in Dallas.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram named Pena one of their "Players to Watch" prior to the 2018-19 before he led the Warriors to a 21-win season and a trip to the playoffs.
He chose the Cowboys over interest from Baylor, TCU, Wake Forest and others.
Boynton and the Cowboys are off to a 4-0 start and have now landed back-to-back top-25 recruiting classes. Season tickets are on sale now and start at just $150. Visit okstate.com/tickets or text/call 877-ALL-4-OSU for more information.
