Hammond And Hudd Claim 2019 ITA Regional Championship Title

NORMAN, Okla. – Luke Hammond and Emile Hudd competed in the semifinals and finals of doubles play in the ITA Regional Championships in Norman, Okla. on Sunday. The Cowboy duo would go on to win both matches and claim the 2019 doubles title.
Hammond and Hudd defeated Nikita Snezhko and Matt Clegg from the University of Iowa in their semifinal match, 6-2, 6-2. The two Cowboys would go on to compete in the finals on Sunday afternoon where they would face another pairing from Iowa in Will Davies and Oliver Okonkwo. Okonkwo and Davies entered the tournament as the top-seeded duo, but Hammond and Hudd got the better of them to claim the title, 6-4, 6-3.
The Cowboys received a first-round bye in doubles play to begin the tournament. They defeated Oral Roberts' Marcello Moreira and Andre Russo in their first match of the ITA Regional Championships, 8-4. Hammond and Hudd would then go on to defeat Evan Fragistas and Luka Jankovic of Drake, 8-4.
In the quarterfinals on Saturday, Hammond and Hudd would go up against Minnesota's Jackson Allen and Eli Ogilvy. Oklahoma State would come out on top once again to push into Sunday's semifinals, 8-4.
The Oklahoma State men's tennis team will pick up play again on November 6 when it travels to Newport Beach, Calif. for the ITA National Fall Championships.
