Cowgirls Closing Out Fall Schedule at The Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Coming off a third place finish at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, the Oklahoma State women's golf team is taking a trip to the East Coast to compete in The Landfall Tradition tournament in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The No. 17 Cowgirls will look to perform well in another competitive tournament to close out their fall schedule. The Landfall Tradition will feature seven of the top 25 teams in the nation, including last year's tournament runner-up No. 9 South Carolina.
When Cowgirls head coach Greg Robertson arrived on campus, he said he wanted to use the fall as an evaluation period for the team. After three tournaments that have resulted in a team win, an individual win by Isabella Fierro and the lowest team round average in school history, Robertson thinks his team is ready to compete at the highest level.
"So far what we've seen is a group that is driven and has a lot of talent," Robertson said. "Over the next couple months in the offseason, we need to gear all of that in the right way so once the spring comes we are hitting on all cylinders and being able to compete with the best in college golf."
After watching freshman Isabella Fierro join the Cowgirl golf record books in her first collegiate victory at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, Robertson hopes the rest of the team can build off Fierro's performance.
"When you have somebody like Isabella do what she did, you hope that will raise the level of everybody's play and confidence level."
Fierro leads the Cowgirls into The Landfall Tradition and will be joined by Michelle Forsland, Lianna Bailey, Han-Hsuan Yu and Hailey Jones. Those five golfers and Emma Whittaker have posted a 288.22 average team score per round, which is the lowest in school history by a wide margin.
The Cowgirls will tee off at the Country Club of Landfall at 7:30 a.m. Friday morning and will play 18 holes each day of the event.
