STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team learned its final standings in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team and individual rankings this week. The Cowgirls came in at No. 14 in the final team poll, while three players and one OSU doubles team made the cut on the individual side.
Senior Vladica Babic came up just a couple of spots short of singles All-America recognition, sliding in at No. 22 in the final rankings. Babic wraps up an impressive 26-7 senior season, in which she also went 14-3 in dual matches holding down the No. 1 spot in the lineup while racking up 11 ranked wins. She ends her OSU singles career with 95 wins, which is good for the second most in the Big 12 era.
Babic and junior Sofia Blanco recorded the second-highest final ranking for a Cowgirl doubles team, coming in at No. 5. Babic and Blanco are coming off one of the greatest NCAA Individual Championship runs in OSU history last week in which they advanced to the doubles finals with four top-30 wins to also become the program's first doubles All-Americans since 1991.
Megan McCray comes in at No. 43 in singles for the final ranking of her collegiate career. McCray finished her outstanding senior season at 18-3 and wraped up her career at 41-16. Her senior season win percentage will rank seventh all-time and third in the Big 12 era for highest singles season win percentage for a Cowgirl at .857. Her career win percentage of .719 will stand at fourth in the Big 12 era.
Junior Marina Guinart will end her first season with the Cowgirls in the singles rankings, taking the 104th spot in the singles poll. Guinart was an outstanding 26-8 overall this season and 16-2 at the No. 4 spot for the Cowgirls. It marks the first time in her collegiate career that she has ended a season in the ITA singles rankings.
As a team, the Cowgirls have been in the top 25 in 77-straight sets of ITA rankings. The Pokes posted another impressive campaign in which they overcame expectations, tallying the program's fourth-straight 20-win season and finishing second in a tough Big 12 that featured five top-25 teams. OSU also advanced in the NCAA Tournament for a sixth-straight year.
