Loryn Goodwin Selected By WNBA’s Dallas Wings
April 12, 2018 | Cowgirl Basketball
NEW YORK – Oklahoma State's Loryn Goodwin became the fifth Cowgirl taken in the history of the WNBA Draft on Thursday night, going in the second round (18th pick overall) to the Dallas Wings.
"After transferring the second time, I did not think the WNBA was in the cards for me. I have a true testimony. God's plan was greater," Goodwin said. "One decision, coming to Oklahoma State, changed my entire life and the OSU staff gave me the chance of a lifetime. For that, I am forever grateful. Now I am about to get a chance at my dream that started at the age of 4."
Named an honorable mention All-American by both the Associated Press and WBCA during her lone season as a Cowgirl, Goodwin was unanimously named a first-team All-Big 12 selection as well as the league's newcomer of the year and a member of its all-defensive team.
The graduate transfer was also named to the Wade Trophy Watch List this season. Goodwin was selected as the ESPNW National Player of the Week and to the NCAA.com Starting Five on Dec. 11. The 5-9 guard was tabbed as the College Sports Madness National Player of the Week two weeks later and was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on three occasions.
The Cypress, Texas native led the league with her 20.6 points per game and her 3.5 steals per outing. Goodwin's scoring average ranked 20th nationally, while her steals average was eighth in the country.
Additionally, she was 11th among conference players in rebounding at 6.7 boards per game, was second in assists at 5.5 per contest and third in assist-turnover ratio.
