EDMOND – Oklahoma State continued its winning ways in its spring exhibition season Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory over Central Oklahoma.
Haley Woodard led the way for the Cowgirls with a pair of goals and an assist as OSU improved to 4-0 on the spring; they have now outscored their opponents 11-3 on the season.
Tuesday's game against the Bronchos was played in three 30-minute segments, and OSU took control early in the first when Woodard went on a run into the box and delivered a pass to Taylor Olson, who converted for a goal.
Late in the first segment, OSU made it 2-0 when Jaci Jones beat the defense and delivered a ball through the box that Hannah Webb struck into the back of the net.
OSU also recorded the next two goals as in the second segment. Woodard chased down a ball from Julia Lenhardt and finished to the far post for the Cowgirls' third goal, and just over a minute later, Woodard posted her second goal when she connected on a ball that Amy Nguyen sent from the left flank to the middle of the box to make the score 4-0.
UCO's lone goal came with 12 minutes left in the third segment when the Bronchos sent a free kick to the far post that was headed past OSU goalie Dani Greenlee, who split time in goal with Hannah Warner during the match.
The Cowgirls return to spring action March 31 when they travel to Denton, Texas, to take on Big 12 Conference foe Texas Tech.
