February 21, 2018 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team moved down one spot, but remained in the top 10 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Men's Division I Rankings, which were released yesterday. The Cowboys now stand at No. 10, marking the 37th consecutive week that the Cowboys have been ranked inside the ITA's Top 25, which is the longest such streak during head coach Jay Udwadia's tenure.
This week's ITA rankings also included updated singles and doubles rankings. Two Cowboys found themselves in the newly released singles rankings.
Cash comes in at No. 67 after previously being ranked No. 88. The senior, primarily playing the No. 1 singles spot for the Cowboys, has a 9-5 record on the season and is 4-3 against nationally-ranked opponents in singles. Cash has also collected an impressive 47 career singles wins as a Cowboy.
Dubinski earns his second career ITA singles rankings at No. 84. The 2017 Big 12 Newcomer of the year plays primarily at the No. 2 spot for the Cowboys and has compiled a 10-5 record this season. The junior is 2-1 against nationally ranked opponents and has complied 20 career singles wins after just one calendar year at OSU.
Cash and his doubles partner, Luke Hammond earned a spot in the newly released rankings coming in at No. 38 after previously being unranked. The tandem boasts a 9-3 record on the season and currently rides a three-match win streak.
Cash and Maxim Tybar came in a No. 60 in doubles rankings. The tandem recorded a win at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships against Louisville's then-No. 6 ranked Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Parker Wynn. The Cowboy duo had a quality loss in the second round of the main draw to the No. 3 ranked William Blumberg and Robert Kelly of North Carolina.
In addition to being ranked No. 10 by the ITA, the Cowboys were also ranked No. 11 by the USTA today. This is the USTA rankings' second season with an expanded voter panel, after a year in which the Virginia men and Florida women each began the year at No. 1 and finished 2017 as NCAA Champions.
The Cowboys' spring season is set to continue this weekend as OSU hosts Omaha on Friday at 5 p.m. along with Southern Methodist University and Oral Roberts for a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. All of this weekend's matches are set to be played at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center.
