Keeping Opponents in Check
Texas Tech is stellar at keeping its opponent's offense at bay. The Red Raiders are fifth in the country in scoring defense and eighth in the nation in field-goal percentage defense. They only allow 62.5 points per game and let 39.1 percent of opponent's shots go in. Both of those marks also lead the Big 12. Texas Tech is also elite at taking the ball away. It forces 16.37 turnovers per game, which is good for 15th in the country.
Swatting It Away
Another one of Texas Tech's strong suits is blocking shots. They rank 50th in the country in blocked shots per game with 4.4. This mark puts them at No. 5 in the conference, but the Red Raiders only trail conference-leader Texas by one block per game. The leader in blocks for Texas Tech is Zhaire Smith. He averages 1.22 blocks per game, which is 10th-best in the conference and good for No. 157 in the country.
Last Time Out

Manning the Point

That also makes him second-best in the Big 12 at scoring the basketball this season. He trails only national leader Trae Young. Evans has also added 3.4 assists per game, which is a top-10 mark in the Big 12 this season.
Head Coach – Chris Beard
Chris Beard is in his second season as the head coach at Texas Tech. Beard was an assistant coach for the Red Raiders from 2001-2011. In his first season, he led Texas Tech to an 18-14 record.
