Cowboy Basketball Building Postseason Resume
February 11, 2018 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – With back-to-back road wins at No. 7 Kansas and No. 19 West Virginia, Mike Boynton and the Oklahoma State basketball team have put together a resume that will have them in the conversation for postseason play. Here's a sampling of OSU's accomplishments to date this season.
• OSU has piled up four Associated Press top-25 wins this season, three of which came away from Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys beat No. 19 Florida State (RPI 43) in Sunrise, Florida, No. 4 Oklahoma (RPI 21) in Stillwater, No. 7 Kansas (RPI 7) in Allen Fieldhouse and No. 19 West Virginia (RPI 34) in Morgantown.
• The Cowboys are one of just five teams to take down two ranked opponents in true road games, joining Oklahoma, Kansas, Florida and Texas A&M. It was the first time OSU defeated back-to-back top-20 opponents on the road since 1957-58.
• The official NCAA RPI report separates every team's games into four quadrants, and OSU has four wins against quadrant one, which is the toughest. Only 16 teams nationally have more wins against the first quadrant, which includes top-30 teams at home, top 50 at neutral sites and top 75 on the road.
• OSU has faced the nation's 28th toughest schedule according to KenPom, and has five wins over current KenPom top-50 squads. What's more, every opponent remaining on OSU's schedule is ranked in the top 100 and four are against top-50 teams.
• Oklahoma State does not have a bad loss on its resume, and likely will not. Seven of OSU's 10 losses have come to teams ranked 43 or better in the RPI, and its lowest ranked loss came to No. 64 Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas.
• The Cowboys are one of just three Big 12 teams with four AP ranked wins, and OSU is tied for second in the league with a pair of AP top-10 wins.
