Cowboys Assemble Nationally Ranked Hoops Signing Class

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton and the Cowboy coaching staff have put together one of the nation's top recruiting class.
Scout and 247Sports have the class rated as the nation's 13th best and ESPN tabbed it 15th, which makes this one of the best OSU classes since recruiting rankings began in the early 2000s.
Boynton and the Cowboys are coming off a season that included 21 wins, including six victories over top-25 squads, and a trip to the NIT quarterfinals. These signees will join a young and promising Cowboy basketball roster that currently features one senior, four juniors, one sophomore and six freshmen.

Avery Anderson III – 6-2, G, Justin, Texas (Northwestern High School)
• Mike Boynton on Avery Anderson.
• A consensus four-star recruit, Avery is ranked as the nation's No. 126 overall recruit by 247Sports.com, which also lists him as the No. 19 combo guard in the country.
• ESPN has Avery ranked among the top-10 players in his class in the state of Texas and named him the No. 17 point guard nationally.
• Helped Justin's Northwestern High School reach the Texas Class 5A State Tournament in each of the last two seasons, including a title-game appearance in 2018.
• Averaged 17.3 points, 4.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game in 2017-18.
• Voted all-state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and was also named District 6-5A MVP.
• Scored 16 points and tied a Texas 5A state tournament record with eight steals in a semifinal win over San Antonio Alamo Heights, which helped Northwest finish with a 34-6 record in 2018.
• Joined his future Cowboy teammate Isaac Likekele on the 2017 Fort Worth Star-Telegram's All-Star First Team.
• Also joined another future Cowboy teammate, Kalib Boone, at the prestigious 2018 NBPA Top 100 camp.
Kalib Boone – 6-9, F, Tulsa, Okla. (Memorial High School)
• Mike Boynton on Kalib Boone.
• A consensus four-star recruit, Kalib was ranked as the top player in the state of Oklahoma and the nation's No. 98 overall recruit by both ESPN and 247Sports.com.
• Named to the ESPN Top 100 list, and was also ranked the No. 23 power forward in the country by ESPN.
• Named to The Oklahoman's Super 5 team and the Tulsa World All-State team.
• Averaged 17.1 points and 12.8 rebounds in helping Memorial High School claim their second straight 5A championship.
• Named the 2018 Oklahoma Basketball State Tournament MVP by both The Oklahoman and the Tulsa World (co-MVP with brother Keylan).
• A premier shot blocker, he had 12 games in 2017-18 with five or more blocks and finished the year with an average of 4.1 blocks per game. For his career, Kalib set the Memorial blocks record with 159.
• One of just three Oklahomans invited to the 2018 NBPA Top 100 camp.
Keylan Boone – 6-7, F, Tulsa, Okla. (Memorial High School)
• Mike Boynton on Keylan Boone.
• 247Sports.com named Keylan a three-star recruit and the nation's No. 46 wing. He is regarded as one of the state's top three prospects by several publications.
• Named to the 2018 Tulsa World All-State team after a breakout junior season.
• Averaged 15.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals as a junior at Memorial.
• Selected as the Tulsa World's co-MVP of the 5A state tournament with twin brother Kalib, and was named to The Oklahoman's All-Tournament team.
• Helped lead the Chargers to a 27-2 record and their second consecutive Class 5A state title.
• Showed his range in 2017-18 with a 42 percent clip from 3-point for Memorial High.
• Shot 56 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line as a junior.
Marcus Watson – 6-6, 210, G, Buford, Ga. (Buford High School)

• Ranked as a consensus four-star recruit, and is listed by 247Sports.com as the nation's No. 45 overall player and the No. 8 shooting guard.
• A member of ESPN's Top 100 list, which also ranks Marcus as the No. 17 small forward nationally.
• Future150.com lists Marcus as the No. 47 player in the country, while Rivals.com has him at No. 84 overall and No. 21 at his position.
• The Atlanta Journal Constitution named Marcus First-Team All-State Class AAAAA.
• Named All-State Class AAAAA North by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association in each of the last two seasons.
• Helped lead Buford to the 2017 Class AAAAA state championship after pouring in 27 points in the state title game against Cedar Shoals.
• Marcus averaged 22.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game as a junior and 18.6 points and 9.1 rebounds as a sophomore.
