Cowboy Basketball: Welcome Avery Anderson

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton and the Cowboy coaching staff have signed one of the top recruiting classes in school history, which is currently ranked 15th or better by Scout, 247Sports and ESPN.
One of the key pieces to that signing class is Avery Anderson, one of the top point guard prospects nationally. Here's what he brings to the Cowboy lineup, and watch the above video to hear from Boynton about Anderson.
Avery Anderson III – 6-2, 170, G, Justin, Texas (Northwestern High School)
• A consensus four-star recruit, Avery is ranked as the nation's No. 126 overall recruit by 247Sports.com, which also lists him as the No. 19 combo guard in the country.
• ESPN has Avery ranked among the top-10 players in his class in the state of Texas and named him the No. 17 point guard nationally.
• Helped Justin's Northwestern High School reach the Texas Class 5A State Tournament in each of the last two seasons, including a title-game appearance in 2018.
• Averaged 17.3 points, 4.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game in 2017-18.
• Voted all-state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and was also named District 6-5A MVP.
• Scored 16 points and tied a Texas 5A state tournament record with eight steals in a semifinal win over San Antonio Alamo Heights, which helped Northwest finish with a 34-6 record in 2018.
• Joined his future Cowboy teammate Isaac Likekele on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's All-Star First Team.
• Also joined another future Cowboy teammate, Kalib Boone, at the prestigious 2018 NBPA Top 100 camp.
