Â
Oklahoma State From a Distance
Oklahoma State is 4-2 on the season after a 48-42 setback at the hands of Iowa State last week. It was OSU's first October loss since the 2014 season. Despite the loss, junior running back Justice Hill extended his streak of games with a rushing touchdown to 12 games to set a new Big 12 running back record. He's now just three games away from tying Missouri quarterback Corby Jones for the longest streak in conference history. This season Hill is the Big 12 leader in rushing yards with 643, rushing touchdowns with seven and total touchdowns with seven - all of those rank among the national leaders as well. For his career, Hill's 3,252 rushing yards rank fifth among all active players and first among Power Five non-seniors, while his 101.6 career rushing yards per game also ranks fourth among all active FBS players. Senior quarterback Taylor Cornelius is a former walk-on who waited five years for his turn as OSU's starter. He's now six games in and leads the Big 12 and ranks No. 6 in FBS with 1,830 passing yards this season. He's also among the top 10 nationally in yards per completion, passing touchdowns, points responsible for and total offense. He's thrown for 16 touchdowns to six interceptions, has added 135 rushing yards (254 if sacks are removed) and set two OSU single-game records in the win at Kansas. His top target is sophomore receiver Tylan Wallace, who ranks No. 6 in FBS with 628 receiving yards this season and No. 9 with 104.7 yards per game. Wallace also leads the team with 35 catches and four receiving touchdowns. He had four straight 100-yard games vs. USA, BSU, TTU, and KU. Tyron Johnson is OSU's second-leading receiver in terms of yards and catches, and he leads the Big 12 with an average of 21.82 yards per reception. Defensively, the Cowboys lead the nation in sacks with 28 on the year (six in front of second-place Ohio State), and have led the nation for the past four weeks. OSU is also No. 3 nationally with 55 tackles for loss this season. Defensive end Jordan Brailford has led the way as his 8.0 sacks are more than any other player in FBS. Jarrell Owens has added 4.0 sacks from the other side of the line while Mike Scott is third on the team with 3.0 this year.
