Cowboy Tennis Concludes Qualifying Action at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Cowboy sophomore Matej Vocel and junior Mathieu Scaglia earned a win over Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles of Texas on Tuesday night at the ITA All-American Championships. The OSU duo led 6-3 before the Texas tandem retired.

Sophomore Maxim Tybar and senior Artur Dubinski fell to Baylor's Jimmy Bendeck and Sven Lah, 6-4, 6-3.

All three Cowboys participating in qualifying singles action forced a third set but couldn't record a victory.

Sophomore Maxim Tybar fell to North Carolina's Brian Cernoch, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2. Senior Artur Dubinski also lost to Jake DeVine of USC, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Baylor's Sven Lah bested OSU sophomore Matej Vocel, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4.

In the qualifying singles consolation bracket, Mathieu Scaglia fell to Ivan Saveljic of NC State, 7-6 (5), 6-3.

The doubles tandem of Scaglia and Vocel will compete in the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships. Main draw doubles competition will begin Thursday.
