Cowgirls Fall to Top-Ranked Tigers

AUBURN, Ala. - Oklahoma State's fifth-ranked equestrian team fell to No. 1 Auburn, 12-7, on Friday in Auburn, Alabama.
Despite losing the meet, OSU (1-2, 1-0 Big 12) earned three MOP honors. This is the second consecutive meet that the Cowgirls have had three MOPs.
Abigail Brayman earned Equitation over Fences MOP honors with a score of 90, the highest score of the day. This marks back-to-back meets she has earned a point in Fences. Brayman also tied Auburn's Taylor St. Jacques with scores of 86 in Equitation on the Flat.Â
Freshman Hannah Lovrien earned her first win as a Cowgirl while also picking up MOP honors in Reining, and Natalie Alcorn also posted her first MOP honor in Horsemanship. Â
The first event of the meet was Horsemanship. Despite victories from sophomores Harley Huff and Alcorn, the Cowgirls fell behind early, 3-2.Â
The top-ranked Tigers (3-0, 1-0 SEC) extended their lead during Equitation on the Flat as Auburn took the event, 4-0.
Despite trailing 7-2 at the meet's midway point, the Cowgirls won three of the next four points thanks to Reining wins from Lovrien, Hannah Mitchell and Kristi Wiggins as OSU cut the Tigers' lead to 8-5.
Ultimately, the Cowgirls won Reining 3-2, but the Tigers won Equitation over Fences by the same count to seal the victory. Sophomore Cassidy Wilbourn picked up her first career win, defeating St. Jacques, 82-77, in Fences.
The Cowgirls have a quick turnaround as they travel to Athens, Georgia, to face No. 10 Georgia Saturday at 11 a.m.
