Blanco and Rioux Head to Regional Quarterfinals

IOWA CITY, Iowa–After three days at the ITA Central Regional Championships, Cowgirls Lisa Marie Rioux and Sofia Blanco have advanced to the quarterfinals in singles and doubles play.
For the second consecutive day, the pair claimed OSU's first win, defeating OU's Kianah Motosono and Laura Rico-Garcia, 8-6 in the Bedlam matchup. The win positions the Cowgirls in the quarterfinals tomorrow against Minnesota's Huber and Merzbacher.
Catherine Gulihur dropped her match to Kansas' Maria Toran Ribes, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, and Big 12 opponent Maty Cancini (ISU) upended Marina Guinart, 7-5, 6-2.
Blanco and Rioux were also successful in singles play Sunday, coming away with two wins apiece.
Rioux bested KU's Julia Deming, 6-4, 6-0, in the round of 32 before eliminating Iowa's Sophie Clark, 6-1, 6-4.
In her first match of the day, Blanco bested Malkia Ngounoue of Kansas, 1-6, 7-6(4), 6-4, then returned to defeat Martina Capurro (OU), 6-4, 7-5.
