STILLWATER – TCU brings one of the nation's most high-octane offenses to Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday night. Here are the five things you need to know about the Horned Frogs. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. on ESPNU and tickets are available at okstate.com/tickets.
1. High-Scoring Frogs
The Horned Frogs enter Tuesday's matchup with the Cowboys ranked No. 6 in the country in scoring offense with 86.8 points per game. TCU's success can be attributed to their excellent shooting from the field. TCU leads the conference and ranks 13th nationally in field goal percentage, making over half of their shots with a mark of 50.3 percent. TCU has shown its scoring prowess in conference play. The Horned Frogs score more in conference play than Oklahoma, the nation's best scoring offense.
2. Sharing the Ball
The Horned Frogs are one of the best teams in the country at sharing the ball. They are second in the country with 19.9 assists per game, trailing only Michigan State. TCU doesn't have one dominant passer. It has three players ranked in the top 250 in the nation for total assists. On the other end of passes, TCU doesn't mind who shoots. The Horned Frogs have five players scoring in double figures, including Vlad Brodziansky, who is 12th in the conference with 15.3 points per game.
3. Robinson Stepping Up
Starting guard Jaylen Fisher is out for the season with a torn right meniscus. Junior guard Alex Robinson has started in Fisher's place. Before Fisher's absence, Robinson averaged 7.4 points, 4.9 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 26.7 minutes per game. Since he has garnered a bigger role, Robinson has averaged 12.7 points, 10.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 39 minutes per game. In the three games since Fisher was ruled out, Robinson has only missed three minutes of play.
4. Crashing The Boards
Kenrich Williams is a senior out of Waco, Texas, and transferred to TCU from New Mexico Junior College. So far this season, he is almost averaging a double-double with 14.5 points per game and 9.6 rebounds per contest. He has reached the feat nine times already this season, including three double-doubles in conference play. Last season, Williams was named the NIT Most Outstanding Player, where he scored 25 points in the championship game to lead TCU to an NIT title against Georgia Tech.
5. Head Coach Jamie Dixon
Dixon is in his second season coaching his alma mater. In his first season coaching the Horned Frogs, he led the team to an NIT championship and a 24-15 record overall. Coming into this season, he ranked No. 12 among winningest active coaches with a .718 win percentage. Before his stint at TCU, Dixon coached Pitt for 13 seasons. He made 11 NCAA tournaments, including three Sweet Sixteen appearances. Dixon was inducted into the TCU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 thanks to his time as a player from 1983-87.
