STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team completed the second day of main draw action Wednesday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Â
Sofia Blanco was the last Cowgirl to compete in singles, and faced a tough opponent in second-seeded Marie Bouzkova. Blanco and Bouzkova battled it out in a tight first set that Bouzkova would finally take in a tiebreaker; however, it was all Bouzkova in the second, as she jumped up early to close the match out with a 6-0 second set victory.
Â
Katarina Adamovic and Lisa Marie Rioux fell short as well, hanging tough with the tandem of Alona Bondarenko and Kathleen Derienzo. The Cowgirl duo would eventually drop the match, 6-3, 7-5.
Â
After a disappointing first set against Texas Tech's Gabriela Talaba and Felicity Maltby, Cowgirls Marina Guinart and Katarina Stresnakova bounced back strong in the second, taking it, 6-4, to force a third set. The two teams proved evenly matched as they traded blows in the tiebreaker; however, Maltby and Talaba pulled away to take the tiebreaker, 10-7.
Â
Two Cowgirl doubles teams remain in contention heading into Thursday's quarterfinals, which will begin in the afternoon.
