Babic and Guinart Post Perfect First Day in Lubbock

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's tennis teammates Vladica Babic and Marina Guinart each picked up a win in the singles qualifying draw at the Team Luke Tennis Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit event held in Lubbock, Texas.

"I was impressed with the way that Vladi and Marina played today," head coach Chris Young said. "They competed well and it's nice to win the first one. I am excited to see how they will do tomorrow against two players we will see in conference this year."

Babic saw her first action of the season against Daniella Silva of Canada, and came away with a straight-set, 6-2, 6-2 victory to advance to Sunday's second round of qualifying. It will be a battle of All-Big 12 recipients from a season ago in the next round, as Babic will face off with Texas Tech's Sarah Dvorak tomorrow for a spot in the qualifying draw finals.

Guinart earned a straight-set win as well in her first match of the week, dropping Baylor freshman Kristina Sorokolet, 6-0, 6-4, to advance. The East Tennessee State transfer will match up with TCU freshman Aleksa Cveticanin on Sunday.

Sunday's action is set to get underway at 9 a.m., with Babic's being the first match on court one. For a full schedule of singles action, check here.
