Cowboy Basketball Mourning The Loss Of Joe Crutchfield

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State basketball family is mourning the loss of former letterwinner Joe Crutchfield, who played for the Cowboys alongside Eddie Sutton from 1954-59.
Crutchfield, 81, was a member of the Cowboy squad coached by Mr. Henry Iba that defeated Wilt Chamberlain and the No. 2 ranked Kansas Jayhawks in Gallagher Hall in 1957, and he went on to start 20 games as a senior in 1959.
After graduating in 1959 with a degree in business, the Duncan, Oklahoma native went on to work for his family business, Ben & Ray Clothiers, for several years before going into business for himself. Crutchfield managed businesses in Corpus Christi, Texas, Houston, Lawton, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City until his retirement in 2007.
He and his wife of 59 years, Anita, lived in Boerne, Texas. The Crutchfield's had two children, Joe Jr., and Jill, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
