Brown, Evans Enjoy Successful NBA Summer League Campaigns
July 20, 2017 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State basketball stars Jawun Evans and Markel Brown enjoyed productive NBA Summer League campaigns.
A second-round pick after an All-America season for the Cowboys in 2016-17, Evans saw action in all five games of the Las Vegas Summer League for the LA Clippers. The rookie averaged 8.4 points, 4.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game.
Evans shot 51.6 percent from the floor, including 2-of-3 from 3-point, over the five games. What's more, he only turned the ball over 1.4 times a game.
Brown, a two-year NBA vet, posted 14.5 points per game on 11-of-14 (78.6 percent) shooting for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Orlando Summer League. Based on that performance, the Portland Trailblazers picked up Brown for the Las Vegas Summer League, where he posted 7.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game on 66.7 percent (6-of-9) shooting before sustaining an injury.
Both Evans and Brown are hoping their performances help earn them a roster spot later this fall.
