Lushkova Advances in Singles at NCAA Individual Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – Oklahoma State women's tennis senior Viktoriya Lushkova advanced into the round of 32 Wednesday evening at the NCAA Individual Championships.
Lushkova advanced to Thursday's round of 32 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over No. 59 Kourtney Keegan of Florida. The Cowgirl senior had little trouble with Keegan, storming through the first set and winning the final three games of the second to take the win. Lushkova will advance to play Michigan's Kate Fahey Thursday at 12:30 p.m. CT.
Katarina Adamovic saw her storied Cowgirl career come to a close with a 6-4, 6-0 loss to No. 10 Karla Popovic of Cal in her round of 64 match. The senior hung with Popovic for much of the first set, tying it at four midway through the opening frame. Popovic would pull away, however, winning the following eight games to pull away from the Cowgirl.
Adamovic wraps up her career with a 75-42 record in singles and a 91-23 mark in doubles. Her .798 win percentage in doubles ranks No. 1 among Cowgirls since the inception of the Big 12. Her 91 doubles wins are also the third-highest among Cowgirls in the Big 12 era and the ninth-most all-time, while her 75 singles wins rank eighth in the Big 12 era. Adamovic claimed All-America honors in 2016, becoming the 15th Cowgirl All-American in school history.
Junior Vladica Babic came up short in her first-round match as well, falling to No. 49 Ingrid Gamarra Martins of South Carolina, 6-1, 6-4. Babic wraps up her season in singles with a 20-11 overall record. She'll team up with Tur Mari to try to make a run through the NCAA doubles bracket beginning Thursday.
Babic and senior Tur Mari will face off with top-seeded Emily Smith and Astra Sharma of Vanderbilt in the doubles round of 32 Thursday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
