Seven Cowgirls Named to All-Big 12 Teams

STILLWATER – Seven members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team have been selected to All-Big 12 teams, the conference announced Thursday. The Cowgirls earned the most first and second team selections of any school in the conference with seven.
In singles, the Cowgirls garnered two first team selections and one second team selection with seniors Katarina Adamovic and Viktoriya Lushkova taking first team honors. Lushkova has posted an impressive senior campaign so far, going 21-10 overall with nine ranked wins and a perfect 4-0 mark during Big 12 regular season competition. Adamovic has been solid as well for the Cowgirls in the No. 2 spot, going 13-3 in dual matches and 20-7 overall.
Aliona Bolsova earned second team recognition for her season that has seen the freshman rack up a team-high 28 wins to only seven losses. Competing primarily in the No. 3 spot, Bolsova has gone 17-4 in dual matches with three ranked wins. The Spanish product's 28 victories currently sit fourth in the Big 12 era for singles wins in a season and the most by a freshman. She is the first Cowgirl freshman to earn All-Big 12 since Lushkova in 2014, and only the second since 2007.
After a successful, 19-8 season playing in the No. 4 spot, Vladica Babic earned second team honors as well. Babic has gone 12-6 in dual play while knocking off three ranked opponents.
All three Cowgirl doubles teams were recognized by the conference, as Carla Tur Mari and Vladica Babic picked up first team honors. Coming off an ITA Central Region Doubles championship in the fall, Tur Mari and Babic have gone 13-5 in the No. 1 spot as a pair, while knocking off eight ranked opponents. The duo has reached as high as No. 6 in the country this season.
The tandems of Sofia Blanco and Aliona Bolsova, and seniors Katarina Adamovic and Viktoriya Lushkova were selected to the second team. Competing at the No. 2 spot, Blanco and Bolsova have racked up a 25-7 overall record to lead all Cowgirl doubles teams to go along with an outstanding 14-3 record in the spring. Lushkova and Adamovic have been nearly automatic in the No. 3 spot, teaming up to go 15-2 during the spring, including nine of their last 10.
After turning in a pair of stellar seasons to serve up their collegiate careers, Bolsova and Lena Ruppert were selected to the All-Freshman team. One of five Cowgirls to reach 20 wins this season, Ruppert has gone 20-6 overall after a hot start to the spring that saw the German product pile up nine wins in her first 11 dual matches.
The Cowgirls open NCAA Tournament play this weekend, as Arkansas, Wichita State and UMKC travel to Stillwater to compete for a trip to the NCAA Championships next weekend in Athens, Ga.
OSU will take on UMKC in the first round of the tournament Saturday at noon at the Greenwood Tennis Center. If victorious, the team will return to face the winner of Arkansas and Wichita State Sunday at 1 p.m.
