April 18, 2017 | Cowboy Tennis
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team continued to be a fixture in the top-10 of the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Team Rankings this week, as the Cowboys held steady at No. 5 in Tuesday's updated Rankings.
OSU (21-4; 3-1 Big 12) has now held a spot in the top 10 for nine straight weeks, which is the longest streak in program history. The Cowboys have won 13 of their last 14 matches and have been ranked inside the top 15 for the duration of the 2016-17 season up to this point.
Individually, the Cowboys boast four ranked singles competitors and two ranked doubles tandems.
Julian Cash and Arjun Kadhe highlight the pair of Cowboy tandems in the doubles rankings, as they remain at No. 3 in this week's updated poll. Cash and Kadhe have won 26 matches when partnering together this season, which includes 12 wins over ranked duos. Kadhe is also ranked in doubles with his fellow senior Lucas Gerch, as they sit at No. 43 in the doubles rankings.
Along with topping the trio of Cowboys in doubles, Cash also highlights the quartet of Cowboys in this week's singles rankings, as the junior sits at No. 23. Cash is coming off an impressive 6-2, 6-1 victory over Tulsa's Majed Kilani this past weekend. The right-hander has won a team-high 18 singles contests this season and is the first Cowboy to crack the top-25 of the ITA's singles rankings since Oleksandr Nedovyesov.
Cash is followed in the singles rankings by Lukas Finzelberg (No. 77), Arjun Kadhe (No. 93) and Lucas Gerch (No. 108).
Oklahoma State will wrap up its regular season this Saturday with a Bedlam showdown against No. 17 Oklahoma at 12:30 p.m. in Norman. With a win over their rivals, the Cowboys can secure a first-round bye in next week's Big 12 Championship, and possibly the squad's first conference title since 1991.
