Kaylee Jensen Named Scholar-Athlete of the Year

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Kaylee Jensen added to an impressive list of academic honors on Thursday with her selection as the Big 12 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year it was announced by the league office.
Jensen, who is carrying a 3.82 GPA in nutritional sciences/allied health, was previously named a second-team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Additionally, the Genoa, Neb., native was tabbed as a first-team Academic All-Big 12 pick and was also selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District squad.
On the court, Jensen was equally impressive, earning first-team all-league honors honors after leading the Big 12 in scoring (18.7 ppg), rebounding (10.5 rpg) and double-doubles (17).
Jensen was named the league's player of the week on Nov. 14 and was twice named the College Sports Madness Big 12 Player of the Week. In December, Jensen was named to the Play4Kay Shootout All-Tournament Team in Las Vegas after helping OSU to a runner-up finish.
The Big 12 Conference established its Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in 2012-13. A recipient is named in each conference-sponsored sport. Every Big 12 institution nominates one individual per sport with the winners selected by a vote of the league head coaches for that sport. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own student-athlete.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year nominees must be a junior or senior (athletic and academic standing), have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher, participate in at least 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests and have a minimum of one year in residence at the institution.
